Early Life
Trevor Noah was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on February 20, 1984, to a Black Xhosa mother and a white Swiss-German father, an illegal couple under apartheid regulations and laws. He grew up with his mother in Soweto, navigating the complexities of racial identity in a separated society.
He studied at Maryvale College, a private Catholic school in Johannesburg. Where he built his solid foundation in academics and developed an early interest in language and storytelling. Well, his early life is the hardest one in my posts. Big respect.
Career
Trevor began his acting career in 2002 with a small portrayal in the South African soap opera Isidingo. Later, he moved into radio and comedy, quickly gaining fame for his sharp wit and social commentary. He hosted several South African television shows:
- Run The Adventure
- The Real Goboza
- Tonight with Trevor Noah
He became the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on The Tonight Show and later on The Late Show with David Letterman. His mixture of blending personal stories and comedy with global issues gave him international popularity. By 2012, Trevor was performing in many places across the UK and the US. His natural ability to connect with people across cultures set him as a truly global voice in comedy.
The Daily Show
Trevor joined The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as a partner in 2014. His global perspective, calm demeanor, and fresh voice were god-given. He was named host of The Daily Show, replacing Jon Stewart. With Trevor, The Daily Show’s popularity massively increased.
During his time period from 2015 to 2022. Trevor redefined the show’s tone, like my articles, bringing a more international and inclusive vibe to American political satire. He displayed major events, including the Trump presidency, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Black Lives Matter protests, and the 2020 U.S. elections. Trevor left The Daily Show in December 2022, saying he wanted to go back to his roots.
Books
Besides his standup comedy, he is also a bestselling author. His book, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood (2016), became a worldwide success. The book details his early life, reflecting apartheid as a mixed-race child, and his infinite bond with his mother.
Net Worth
Trevor’s life is not easy; from his early life, Trevor’s life is a real example of hardships and hard work. His estimated net worth is around $100 million. But, in my opinion, it will be $99.8 million because it’s around $100 million, not $100 million.
